Yipee! I got my first order today. However, the item is still in my store. Does it not automatically get taken out once it's purchased?

I believe that it will still be in your listings, but it will display as "hidden", meaning that no one else can see it.

I still see it there. Maybe you had more than one for sale? I'm new here so I'm not sure but I think you can put more than one in the Qty field for a product...Someone please correct me if I'm wrong...

BTW, if that's not how you list multiples of the same item, can someone point out how you do?

First do you have inventory control TURNED ON -
log in look under OPTIONS

Second do you have the qty box in the listing filled in

Third was it an INSTANT Payment using google or paypal. MUst be an INSTANT payment for it to work with inventory control.

The buyer is using Paypal eCheck so their payment won't clear for a few days (not sure how many). Perhaps I can hide the item until the payment clears?

Thanks for the compliment on my items. I'm hoping to join a few e-lists or message boards and promote my store that way. Very Happy

Yes, you can manually hide it
an eCheck is NOT an INSTANT payment.
Not all eChecks get paid either.

I saw how to delete an item, edit it or add a photo, but not how to hide it.
Where do I find that option?

Click on the pencil by the listing and scroll down and you will see
Quote:
Show as featured on your store home page.

By selecting this option, the product appears on your home page. If you have more than one product with this option selected, the products will be randomly rotated.


Show on the top in product listing for the category.

By selecting this option, the product appears as featured (at the very top) within its category.


Hide this product.

Use this option to hide out-of-stock products. Prevent buyers from ordering products that you no longer have in inventory. Once the products become available, unselect the option


Used products.


Check Hide this product

I've learned not to depend on functions like that on any site. I have my inventory control set to ON but there are so many things that can effect it that's it's always best to check and do it yourself if necessary.

I'm glad I found this thread, as I had the same question! I am a one week newbie here Laughing , and I had a customer obviously having some confusion, as she placed 4 different orders for the same thing! She did finally figure it out and pay for it... but in the meantime.. why did my inventory ALLOW her to continue buying those items over and over? Especially if I only had 8 available and she ordered 4 each time? LOL

My concern is what if there are two people going after the same SINGLE one of a kind item, at around the same time? Does it only remove the item after it has been paid for?

Sorry, hopefully this question makes sense! I am still trying to make sense of it all! Rolling Eyes

Hi! The item will only be removed from inventory if you have inventory control enabled AND the item is paid for instantly. Echecks and mail in payments will not remove the item from inventory. For the customer who placed multiple orders for the same item (or items), since each order was not instantly paid for, the items were not removed from your inventory. Only the order that was instantly paid for gets removed.

Clear as mud??!! Hope this helps!
